TikToker Nicole Renard Warren Claps Back Over Viral Firework Display at Baby’s Sex Reveal
View Date:2024-12-23 15:42:39
TikToker Nicole Renard Warren is addressing her critics.
The 29-year-old, known to her over 2 million followers as Nicole the Nomad, revealed the sex of her baby in a June TikTok showing off a fireworks display at a party. While she now knows the sex of her baby, she didn’t expect the reveal to prompt so many mixed reactions from followers—including the many who called the display excessive.
"None of us expected them to be that big," Nicole told People in an Aug. 14 statement responding to the backlash, explaining that the fireworks company she and husband Chandler worked with “wanted to test a new show and asked if they could do something bigger. I had no idea what they meant but long story short, we had no idea it would be as big as it was."
In the June 30 video, Nicole and Chandler can be seen in an open field bordered with trees and standing in front of a balloon display. After counting down, a massive display of fireworks shoots into the sky revealing pink clouds. Nicole can then be seen jumping with excitement in the video captioned, "We can't WAIT to meet our little girl!!"
While Nicole and Chandler’s families were thrilled about the news, others were not so pleased with the way the couple decided to celebrate, with one user sarcastically commenting, “Love how environmentally friendly this reveal is.”
Fans further expressed frustration after she referred to her sex reveal party as “simple” in a follow-up post detailing how she pulled off the fireworks display.
“I don’t get big elaborate gender reveals,” one commenter said, “or really gender reveal parties at all.” Another called out her description, saying, “‘Simple’ yet has an industrial style firework show in the background.”
Despite the lack of support from some members of the online community, Nicole is embracing the joy of the day’s festivities.
"My husband and I love fireworks," she explained to People. "We got engaged on the 4th of July and they've always been our special thing, so we thought it would be fun to announce the gender of our first baby with either pink or blue fireworks. It was epic and we are so grateful we were able to celebrate with our family and friends in such a big way. It's definitely a memory we will never forget.”
